All of us know many friends and family who have been impacted by the culture of divorce.  Sadly, it affects our happiness and the happiness of our loved ones.  Most couples enter their marriage having a very limited picture of what the challenges will be as well as how their personal idiosyncrasies and those of their spouse will impact their odds of having a successful marriage.

There are many myths about marriage that are accepted as truths.  These myths are part of the problem that pacifies couples and convinces them they don't need to worry about having a successful marriage because they simply know they will.  Some couples think love is all it takes or are convinced that because they never fight, their marriage will overcome the challenges ahead.   But there is so much more to making your marriage successful.   If you are not prepared, you risk becoming one of the many who divorce.

If you’ve been married before you may believe you have learned enough from your bad experiences that you will not make the same mistakes and are better equipped to evaluate and select a more compatible spouse.   You may be right, but the reality for most is that second marriages have a lower success rate than first marriages.   If you enter your second marriage without having made significant growth yourself, you may repeat some of the same mistakes of your past.   Because you have been married, you may be less tolerant of your spouses imperfections.   This seminar is highly supportive of those who have been married before and sensitive to your specific needs.

The Institute Of Family Synergy has created a pre-marital seminar designed to assist all couples in better understanding the ins and outs of successful marriage.  Unfortunately many of the principles were created through working with clients on the brink of divorce or who had already divorced.   Their experiences are helpful for couples contemplating marriage because you will learn from their mistakes.

Specific areas covered includes but is not limited too:

  • Communication
  • Conflict Resolution(rules of engagement)
  •   Love Rituals(maintaining the passion)
  •   Strengthening true unity
  •   Blended Families
  •   In-laws
  •   Distorted Thinking (assumptions, justification),
  • Compatibility
  • Finances
  •   Religion
  • When the honeymoons over
  •   Child Rearing
  • The art of Love
  • Returning to the source
  •   Love Symbols
  • Inevitable injuries and forgiveness
  •   Growing with Your Partner   vs   growing apart
  • Blind spots and pitfalls that limit marital success
  • Marriage (role) Expectations
  • Physical and emotional intimacy
  • Sharpening Partner and self-awareness
  • Knowing and understanding your spouse
  • Collaboration for a synergized marriage
  • Being the spouse you want to have

If you apply the principles in the seminar actively throughout your marriage you can be successful.  Your marriage can thrive and you can safely navigate the challenges that toss all marriages at times like a ship on the ocean.

The seminar is a powerful way to gain therapeutic knowledge without the intensity of private couples therapy.   Many couples feel awkward about couples counseling due to the personal nature and stigma sometimes attached to therapy.    Some might think they must be doomed if they need therapy before they are even married.  Our seminar does not suggest those who take it have major problems.   It was created with the idea that all of us can improve our lives by better understanding the self and the spouse. We can all continue better knowing what our specific relationships need to flourish.   It is a lifelong pursuit.   This workshop is a path to intensify your connection for years to come with your spouse.

It  may be ideal for couples who have a difficult time opening up to therapists because you don't have to make comments or answer questions to anyone other than your spouse.   We do encourage those who feel comfortable,  to share at times, but it is completely optional.

We can also accommodate those who prefer traditional premarital counseling with sessions of couples therapy.

Contact the Institute by phone or email and ask about our reduced workshop group rates(Standard rate is 150.00 per couple), referral reimbursement plan,   discount followup sessions, as well as free email therapy support for the life of your marriage.  Those who take the seminar will have the ongoing support throughout their marriage of a therapist who is committed to their success.
